MACDUFF is a burgh <strong>of</strong> regality (by charter belonging to Macduff and about 50 large fishing boats.<br />

1783) and a sea-port in <strong>the</strong> parish <strong>of</strong> Gamrie, situated The imports are chiefly timber, slate, coal, lime and<br />

a mile east from <strong>the</strong> town <strong>of</strong> Banff, on <strong>the</strong> side <strong>of</strong> a bones, and <strong>the</strong> exports grain and meal. In <strong>the</strong> town<br />

Company's line. The town hall is near <strong>the</strong> harbour.<br />

A Church <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Establishment, a Free Church, and an<br />

Independent Chapel are <strong>the</strong> places <strong>of</strong> worship; <strong>the</strong>re<br />

are also board schools, and "Murray's Institution" for<br />

tides, and V fit neap tides. There are 25 vessels poor childien, Macduff forms a portion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>
