BALLINDALLOCH, GLENLIVET^.DEUMIN AND MAETPAEK.<br />

INVEEAVEN is a parish lying chiefly in Banffshire,<br />

but a small portion <strong>of</strong> it extends into MoraysMre.<br />

It is situated about 42 miles from Banff, S from<br />

Aberlour, 22 from Keith, 14 from Eo<strong>the</strong>s, 22 from<br />

Fochabers, 22 from Elgin, and 12 from Dulftown.<br />

There are two railway stations in <strong>the</strong> parish, one at<br />

Ballindalloch and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r at Blacksboat. The<br />

manufacture <strong>of</strong> whisky is carried on here to a considerable<br />

extent, <strong>the</strong>re being three firms <strong>of</strong> distillers<br />

engaged in that business. The places <strong>of</strong> worship are<br />

two Churches <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Estabhshment, a Free Church,<br />

and two Eoman Catholic Chapels ; <strong>the</strong>re are also<br />

three schools under <strong>the</strong> management <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> School<br />

Board, two Eoman Cathohc schools, and three female<br />

schools within <strong>the</strong> parish. The inhabitants are<br />

chiefly engaged in agricultural pursuits. Fairs are<br />

held on <strong>the</strong> Tuesday before <strong>the</strong> 26th <strong>of</strong> May, and <strong>the</strong><br />

second Tuesday in July (old style), and ano<strong>the</strong>r on<br />

<strong>the</strong> Tuesday before <strong>the</strong> 23rd <strong>of</strong> November. Glenlivet<br />

is a quoad sacra parish, Ballindalloch a small<br />

village, and Drumin a hamlet witliin <strong>the</strong> parish <strong>of</strong><br />

Inveraven.<br />

at 10.35 a.m., to Grantown at 6.20 p.m., to<br />

Glenhvet and Tomintoul at 7.50 p.m. Money Order,<br />

Telegraph Office, and Savings' Bank.<br />
