three miles from its mouth at Newburgh.
SLAINS is a parish on the south-east coast and
extremity of the Buchan district 6 miles east from
Ellon its post town. Slains Castle the seat of the
Earl of Errol is built on rocks rising almost perpen-
dicular from the German Ocean. The view from the
castle, of the ocean and coast during the prevalence
the furious storms which occasionally visit the coast,
is awfully grand. Colheston and Old Castle are small
villages.

&c. at 7.35 a.m. and 12.30 noon and are despatched
thereto at 8.5 a.m., 12.50 noon and 6.40 p.m. Letters

8.45 a.m. and are despatched at 2.45 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Letters from Cruden and Birness arrive at 8 a.m.,
and are despatched at 3 p.m. Money Order Office,
