Iby <strong>the</strong> river Tthan wMch is here navigable some<br />
three miles from its mouth at Newburgh.<br />
SLAINS is a parish on <strong>the</strong> south-east coast and<br />
extremity <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Buchan district 6 miles east from<br />
Ellon its post town. Slains Castle <strong>the</strong> seat <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Earl <strong>of</strong> Errol is built on rocks rising almost perpen-<br />
dicular from <strong>the</strong> German Ocean. The view from <strong>the</strong><br />
castle, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ocean and coast during <strong>the</strong> prevalence<br />
<strong>the</strong> furious storms which occasionally visit <strong>the</strong> coast,<br />
is awfully grand. Colheston and Old Castle are small<br />
villages.<br />

&c. at 7.35 a.m. and 12.30 noon and are despatched<br />
