ABERDOUR<br />

ABEEDOUE is a parish, nearly square in fornij<br />

being about 3^ miles each way, and is pleasantly<br />

situated on <strong>the</strong> noi'th bank <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fii'th <strong>of</strong> Forth, in<br />

<strong>the</strong> county <strong>of</strong> Fife, 8 miles from Kirkcaldy, 10 N.W.<br />

from Edinburgh (across <strong>the</strong> Firth), and 3 from<br />

Burntisland, which is <strong>the</strong> nearest railway station.<br />

It is an excellent bathing place, and is much resorted<br />

to in <strong>the</strong> summer months by <strong>the</strong> citizens <strong>of</strong> Edinburgh<br />

on account <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ready access obtained by<br />

steam vessels and o<strong>the</strong>r means from <strong>the</strong> opposite<br />

shore. The small island <strong>of</strong> Inchcolm belongs to <strong>the</strong><br />

parish <strong>of</strong> Aberdour. In <strong>the</strong> village are an Established<br />

Chui'ch, a Free Church, and one for<br />

Episcopahans. There are schools attached to <strong>the</strong><br />

two former.<br />

Letters arrive from all parts (from Edinburgh) at<br />

10-0 a.m. and 7-0 p.m., and are despatched <strong>the</strong>reto at<br />

5-30 a.m. and 1-0 p.m. Money Order and Telegraph<br />
