CUPAE-FIFE is a royal burgh, and <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> rine street. There are six branch banks—one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> county <strong>of</strong> Fife, pleasantly situated on <strong>the</strong> left British Linen Company, <strong>the</strong> Commercial Bank <strong>of</strong><br />

bank <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> river Eden, is a station on <strong>the</strong> hne <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Scotland</strong>, <strong>the</strong> Clydesdale Banking Company, <strong>the</strong><br />

Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee branch <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>North</strong> Eoyal Bank <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scotland</strong>, <strong>the</strong> City <strong>of</strong> Glasgow Bank,<br />

British Eailway, 9 miles north-east from Falkland, and <strong>the</strong> National Bank, toge<strong>the</strong>r with a Bank for<br />

32 miles north from Edinburgh, and 12^ miles south Savings. Five newspapers are published in Oupar<br />

from Dundee. Being <strong>the</strong> county town and head weekly, namely—<strong>the</strong> Fife Herald, Thursday ; <strong>the</strong> Fife<br />

burgh <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> shire, <strong>the</strong> pubhc business relating to News, Saturday ; <strong>the</strong> Fifeshire Journal, Thursday; <strong>the</strong><br />

both is transacted here. The ordinary sheriff court, People's Journal, Saturday; and <strong>the</strong> St. Andrew's<br />

and <strong>the</strong> commissary courts, are held every Tuesday Citizen, Saturday. The places <strong>of</strong> worship are, <strong>the</strong><br />

dxiring <strong>the</strong> session, and <strong>the</strong> sheriif small debts court parish church and a chapel iJa connection <strong>the</strong>rewith,<br />

on <strong>the</strong> first and thu'd Thursday <strong>of</strong> each month during and o<strong>the</strong>rs for <strong>the</strong> Free Chm-ch, United Presbyte-<br />

<strong>the</strong> same period. The principal trade <strong>of</strong> Cupar is rians, Epiacopalians, Baptists, and Eoman Cathohcs.<br />

road. The county buildings, newsroom and hbrary, by Flisk, and situated about five miles west <strong>of</strong> Cupar.<br />
