for manufacturing patent bobbins, an engine TTorks,<br />
a foundry, and very extensive saw mills and timber<br />
yards, <strong>the</strong> latter belonging to Mr. James Donaldson<br />
<strong>the</strong>re is also a shipbuilding yard. Many handsome<br />
villas have <strong>of</strong> late years been erected here, and are<br />
chiefly occupied by Dundee merchants. The City <strong>of</strong><br />
Glasgow Banking Company have a branch here. The<br />
places <strong>of</strong> worship are <strong>the</strong> Parish Church, a Free<br />
Church, an United Presbyterian Church, and a<br />
Baptist Church. There are also excellent board<br />
schools.<br />

postmistress.—Letters from Dundee, <strong>the</strong> <strong>North</strong>, and<br />
all parts arrive at 6.40 a.m. and 4 p.m., and are<br />
despatched at 8.45 a.m., 3.30 p.m., and 6.40 p.m.<br />
