EVAGRIUS<br />

Synod was convened at Ephesus, although John <strong>of</strong> Antioch and <strong>The</strong>odoret<br />

were late.<br />

4. How Nestorius was deposed by the Synod, even though the<br />

bishop <strong>of</strong> Antioch was not present.<br />

5. That when John <strong>of</strong> Antioch came after ¢ve days, he deposed Cyril<br />

<strong>of</strong> Alexandria and Memnon <strong>of</strong> Ephesus; these the Synod again absolved,<br />

after deposing John and his followers. And how Cyril and John were<br />

brought together by <strong>The</strong>odosius the emperor, while still con¢rming the<br />

deposition <strong>of</strong> Nestorius.<br />

6. Concerning Paul <strong>of</strong> Emesa’s journey to Alexandria, and Cyril’s<br />

praise by means <strong>of</strong> a letter.<br />
