490. The first Deity (Adidevah).<br />

Because abandoning all o<strong>the</strong>r concepts, he centres<br />

himself in <strong>the</strong> great wealth <strong>of</strong> self-concentration.<br />

492. The Lord <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Devas (Deves'ah).<br />

493. The Instructor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lord <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Devas (Deva-<br />

bhridguruh).<br />

' The Lord <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ' Devas : Indra, or he who is <strong>the</strong><br />

nourisher <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Devas and <strong>the</strong> instructor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m.<br />

Vya. He is <strong>the</strong> protector <strong>of</strong> all Vidyas.<br />

497. To be attained by Jnana (Jnanagamyah).<br />

He is attained nei<strong>the</strong>r by karma (actions), nor by <strong>the</strong><br />

combination <strong>of</strong> karma and jnana, but by jnana only.<br />

498. The ancient (Puratanah).<br />
