The bow named S'arnga which He wields symbolises<br />

<strong>the</strong> senses and <strong>the</strong> rest.<br />

568. With a punishing axe (Khandaparas'uh or<br />

Akhandaparas'uh)<br />

Punishing <strong>the</strong> foes <strong>with</strong> his axe during <strong>the</strong> incarnation<br />

or <strong>the</strong> name may be<br />

<strong>of</strong> Paras'urama, <strong>the</strong> son <strong>of</strong> Jamadagni ;<br />

taken as ' Akhandaparas'uh,' meaning wielding . . .<br />

Or Sarvadrik : he who is <strong>the</strong> eye <strong>of</strong> all ; Vyasa : he who<br />

divided <strong>the</strong> Vedas into four, Rig, etc. The Rigveda again<br />

was divided into twenty-one branches, <strong>the</strong> Yajus into one<br />

hundred and one, <strong>the</strong> Samaveda into a thousand and <strong>the</strong><br />

Atharvaveda into nine branches or S'akhas ; he also divided<br />

all <strong>the</strong> Puranas ; hence Vy&sa means Brahma, <strong>the</strong> creator.<br />
