<strong>of</strong> <strong>Vishnu</strong> by <strong>the</strong>se 1,000 names, <strong>of</strong>fering flowers, such as<br />

ThulasI, Bilva, Nandyavarta, Padma, Mallika, JatI,<br />

Ponnaga and Satapatra, for each name. The worship<br />

should be performed, if not daily, at least on one's own<br />

birthdays, eclipse days, birth constellations, <strong>the</strong> entering<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sun from one Zodiac to ano<strong>the</strong>r, and to ward <strong>of</strong>f<br />

troubles, due to planets, <strong>the</strong> anger <strong>of</strong> kings, great diseases<br />

and <strong>the</strong> troubles <strong>of</strong> enemies. This Archana may be<br />

performed also when one requires Dharma, sons, wealth<br />

1 90 names are repeated in this hymn ; <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m, 74 are repeated<br />

twice, 14 thrice aud 2 four times. I have marked <strong>the</strong>m in <strong>the</strong>ir proper<br />

places. In Lalith SaJtasranama alone we do not find such repetition<br />

this hymn is treated as " mantras " whereas all <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rs are<br />

" stotras ".<br />
