Menu Bar
The menu bar is located directly below the title bar. Each menu contains
available operations. When you first start MKS Visual Difference, there are
three menus in the menu bar: File, View, and Help. The list of available
menus and operations varies depending on the function you are
performing (for example, working in differences mode or merge mode).
Toolbar
Immediately below the menu bar is a toolbar that provides easy access to
the most commonly used Visual Difference operations. Toolbar functions
are carried out by clicking the appropriate toolbar button. Point to a button
to display a ToolTip that contains a description for that button.
Toolbar buttons become available and unavailable for use depending on
the mode you are in. For more information, see “Modes” on page 98.
Located immediately below the toolbar buttons are display controls that
change what appears in the view panes. These controls are also available in
the View menu.
NOTE
The Ignore Whitespace, Ignore Case, and Ignore Blanks display controls can
only be adjusted before making changes to the Merge Result. Once you begin
to make changes, (merging or editing), the options become unavailable.
Difference Blocks is a list containing all of the difference blocks in the
revisions, including the type of difference (change, insertion, deletion),
and the line numbers. If you are working in Merge mode, the
Difference Blocks list also includes edit blocks.
To move to a particular difference block, select the block from the
Difference Blocks list.
The selected difference block appears.
Ignore Whitespace ignores tab and white space throughout the lines in
the revisions.
Ignore Case ignores the type case when comparing the revisions.
