Chapter 12: Advanced Change Package Operations
packages that can be used for this purpose. For more information on
resolution change packages, see “Working With a Resolution CP” on
page 397.
The next four sections describe how the Resync CP command works and
on how you can use it in your development environment. The topics
covered are:
“Resync CP Backfill List” on page 377
Procedures for the graphical user interface
The following outlines the key concepts associated with the Resync CP
command:
The Resync CP operation takes place in a sandbox rather than directly
in the project. Resync CP does not drop members or update member
revisions in the project, but works only in your sandbox. Resync CP
also performs merges and adds required members to your sandbox.
If you need to merge files to create your solution, you must use Resync
CP rather than Apply CP. Resync CP performs three-way merging
and can therefore only merge around a consecutive range of revisions.
Resync CP allows you to work with open change packages.
Resync CP provides additional options beyond those available for
Apply CP, including options for Restore Revision Timestamp, Allow
Open Change Packages, Keyword, and certain merge options.
Source Integrity allows you to run the Apply CP command first and
then, if required, run the Resync CP command to perform any
required merge operations.
The Resync CP backfill list allows you to quickly select those change
packages that you want to operate on. In the graphical user interface,
you select the change packages you want to include in the resync
operation. In the command line interface, you enter the numbers for
the change packages you want to exclude from the resync operation.
The Resync CP operation adds and drops files, and updates file revisions
to include specific content in a sandbox. Fundamentally, the Resync CP
works similarly to the Apply CP command, but rather than touching the
project directly, makes the changes in a sandbox.
