Chapter 9: Viewing and Editing Member Histories and Revisions 292 Although it can be used to show the contents of any revision in an archive, this command is typically used with the working file, since it provides a mechanism to open the member without leaving the Source Integrity application environment. A working file is a file that contains a working copy of a checked out revision. <strong>User</strong>s edit and change the working file, not the revision itself. Changes to the working file are added to the history (as a new revision) when the working file is checked in. To view a member’s working file or revision in the graphical user interface or Web interface 1 With a Member History window open, select the working file or revision you want to view. 2 Do one of the following: Select History > View Revision. Click . Promoting Revisions The member’s working file or revision is opened in your default editor or in the editor associated with the file’s extension. Normally, you promote a member’s revision (set its state) when you checkpoint its master project, but you can do so at any time. To promote a revision in the graphical user interface and Web interface 1 With a Member History window open, select a revision to promote. 2 Do one of the following: Select History > Promote. Click . Demoting Revisions Demoting Revisions 3 Select a new state from the Promote to State list, for example, Beta. The next highest state appears in the Promote to State list. 4 To accept the new state, click OK (for multiple members, click OK to All). The revision is promoted. You can demote a revision by changing its promotion state setting from a higher level to a lower one.
