File and Object Histories
For projects, however, the saved content is different. A project is a
development object whose content consists of metadata that describes all
the other development objects (that is, the project’s members) and the
relationships between them.
Metadata is composed of all of the information about a revision or archive,
as opposed to the information that is part of the object. For example, a
revision’s Revision Description is metadata since it is information about
the revision, while the contents of the revision is part of the revision itself
and, hence, is not metadata.
Metadata includes:
revision number of the project
location and names of all project members
type and revision number of each member
project-specific configuration
Source Integrity creates a history for each file or object stored in the server
projects. Each submitted update is recorded in an object’s history as a
version and given a sequential number for reference. The original version is
numbered 1.1, and each subsequent version increases the number to the
right of the decimal point by one (for example, 1.2). Each version of the
object can be viewed individually.
