Understanding
Access
Permissions
Before you start the Source Integrity client, ensure you have the following:
the name and port number of the Integrity Server you want to connect
to
a copy of the Source Integrity client installed locally on your computer
your Source Integrity user name and password
NOTE
Your administrator provides you with a server name, port number, user name,
and password.
Your ability to perform tasks in Source Integrity depends on the
permissions granted to you by your administrator. Access to all functions
is managed through a database that controls the permitted activities for all
Source Integrity users.
Permissions are a collection of pre-defined functionality and operations that
can be assigned to users, granting access to certain Source Integrity tasks.
The set of assigned permissions determines each user’s access to the
various functions of Source Integrity. If a user is not granted the
permission, that user is not able to complete the task. For example,
checking out files in Source Integrity requires the FetchRevision and
Lock permissions.
