Chapter 8: Viewing and Editing Projects, Sandboxes, and Members Viewing Project Differences 244 6 To update the working file to the member revision number of the target project, highlight the member and resynchronize it by choosing Member > Resynchronize. Source Integrity updates the working files to the member revision number of the target project. All restored members are returned to the initial state (by default, this is EXP). Typically, the next time you check in the restored members, the member revision number is incremented to the next sequential level. Source Integrity allows you to view a summary of the changes that have occurred between two versions of a project. In the graphical user interface and Web interface, this functionality is provided through View Project Differences. In the command line interface, you can access this functionality through the si mods command. If you have installed the full Integrity Solution Integration, Source Integrity also provides information on any change packages that have been applied between two revisions of the project. This information is extremely useful for confirming the specific content of a project. For more information on change packages, see “The Integrity Manager Integration” on page 339. When you checkpoint a project, Source Integrity is actually saving a revision of the project file itself (that is, the .pj file). The project file contains information that can help you understand and manage the development of your projects. This information includes: the revision number of the current project the names and locations of all project members revision numbers of all project members any project attributes member attributes For more information on checkpointing, see “Checkpointing a Project” on page 237. As you work with the project and its members, the content of the project file changes: The revision number of the project is updated each time you checkpoint that project. Comparing Project Revisions Project members may be added or deleted. Project attributes may be added or deleted. Controlling Projects Source Integrity can also checkpoint subprojects when a project is checkpointed. To checkpoint subprojects, open the Checkpoint dialog box, click the Advanced tab, and select the option for Recurse into Subprojects. There are three methods for comparing project revisions. Source Integrity can compare: two specified revisions of the project the current revision of the project with a specified revision the current version of the project with the last checkpointed revision For detailed procedures on comparing project revisions in the graphical user interface, see “To view project differences in the graphical user interface” on page 249. For the Web interface, see “To view project differences in the Web interface” on page 250. Comparing Two Specified Revisions of the Project To view differences between two specified revisions of a project, you select the individual revisions so that Source Integrity can compare them. In the graphical user interface, you use the Project History window to select two versions of the project (in either the List view or Graphical History view). When you select History > View Project Differences, Source Integrity compares the two specified revisions of the project.
