Chapter 6: Member Operations
Managing Project Members
Adding
Members to a
Project
146
You can manage project members by adding them to a project, importing
them into Source Integrity, or dropping them from a project.
Once you create a project, you can add files to it, making them members of
that project.
A project member is any file that is included in a project. Project members
are displayed in the Project window.
In the graphical user interface you can add members through the sandbox.
In the Web interface, because sandboxes do not exist, you can add
members through the project only.
Once you have added members to your project, you can check them out for
editing, and then check them in to preserve your changes.
Project members may be one of following types of files: archived (files
under Source Integrity revision control), or subproject (another
Source Integrity project).
NOTE
Adding a large number of members, or a directory with a large number of
members to a Source Integrity sandbox may cause the client to stall if the
Integrity Server does not have the recommended system configuration.
Consult your administrator for more information.
A batch server-side utility, the si import command, is available for
adding files. For more information on this advanced administration task,
see the Integrity Server Installation and Administration Guide.
You can import members in the graphical user interface. For information
on importing members, see “Importing Members” on page 155.
You can also add a member to the project on a deferred basis. Deferring the
addition of a member allows you to work with the member in your
sandbox without causing any changes in the project. For more information
on deferred operations, see “Deferring Member Operations” on page 189.
NOTE
If there is a deferred add operation associated with a member, you cannot view
the member history for that member because it has not yet been added to the
actual project.
