The Program EIR states that project impacts on electrical services would be considered
significant under the following circumstances: 92
"Impacts on electrical utilities are considered significant if the proposed project
would require significant expansion to existing energy systems, such as a new
generation plant, or the development of new sources of power. "
Electrical service is provided by the City of Glendale Department of Public Service. It
is anticipated that the City can service all the electricity that will be required through the end
of the century, at which point· other sources of power will need to be obtained.
Completion ofthe Redevelopment Plan would result in the consumption ofapproximately
1,499 megawatt hours (mWh) of electricity per day. Such an increase would require 12
kilovolts of capacity to be added to the project area.
PROJECT IMPACTS
Based upon the consumption rates for Restricted Industrial uses contained in the Program
EIR, electricaf consumption for the DrearnWorks project will be 61.03 mWh per day. No
element of on-site electrical usage would be excessive or wasteful. Therefore, given the current
and future availability of electricity as stated in the Program EIR, the project would not have
a significant impact on the City'S supply of electricity with implementation of the mitigation
measures identified in the Program EIR.
Although electrical consumption for the project is for the· most part included in the
Redevelopment Plan generation projections, the increment of electrical consumption attributable
to the difference between the project, as proposed. and an average Restricted Industrial density
