Configuration
window
The UPS Configuration window enables you to configure how the Sidewinder
G2 will interact with an uninterruptible power supply. The window contains the
following fields.
• UPS Serial Port—Click the drop-down list to select the Sidewinder G2 port
being used to monitor the UPS.
The Sidewinder G2 only supports COM1 port (COM2 is not supported).
Therefore, you cannot enable the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) service
AND connect a console directly on your Sidewinder G2 on the COM1
port at the same time. Doing so will cause your Sidewinder G2 Security
Appliance to shutdown immediately. If this happens, you must do one of the
following:
– Disable upsd and use a serial console: Disconnect the Sidewinder G2
console, disable upsd using the Admin Console, and then reconnect to
the Sidewinder G2 console.
– Remove the serial console and use upsd: Disconnect the Sidewinder
G2 console, and then connect the UPS cable.
• Battery Time—Specify the estimated amount of time (in seconds) that the
UPS battery will last before running low. The Sidewinder G2 will initiate an
orderly shutdown when this timer expires, regardless of the amount of
battery power remaining in the UPS.
