Chapter 19: Auditing and Reporting Generating reports using the Admin Console 552 Figure 225: Reports window About the Reports window In this window you can generate commonly used reports based on a predefined report template. Follow the steps below. 1 In the Report Period field, select the time frame for which you want to run a report. 2 Select the report you want to run by clicking the appropriate table row. (For a description of each report, see Table 36 on page 553.) Tip: You can create custom reports using the cf_reports tool. Any reports you create using the cf_reports tool will appear in the Report list the next time you log into the Reports window. For information on creating custom reports, refer to the cf_reports man page. 3 If you want the report to resolve any IP addresses, select the Resolve IP Addresses check box. 4 [Conditional] If you are running a host or user activity report, you will need to enter information in the Template Parameter field as follows: • Host Activity — When you select the Host Activity report, the Template Parameter area will become available. In the Host field, enter the host name or IP address that will be used to generate the report. • User Activity — When you select the User Activity report, the Template Parameter area will become available. In the User Name field, enter the name of the user that will be used to generate the report. 5 Click Run Report. The report results will be displayed in a separate Show Report window.

You are not able to save or print these reports. If you need to save or print your reports, you will need to generate them using the command line interface. See the cf_reports man page for details. acl_usage This report summarizes proxy rule usage on the system. You can use this report to determine which proxy rules are being used most frequently. dest_traffic This report lists proxy information on the destination hosts that the Sidewinder G2 connected to, sorted by the number of bytes transferred. The report lists the destination host, the service used, the number of kB transferred, and the number of connections that were made. Note: This report is automatically generated and e-mailed on a daily basis to the Sidewinder G2 administrator. See “Viewing administrator mail messages on Sidewinder G2” on page 350 in Chapter 12 for information on viewing this e-mail. host_activity This report lists information about a specific host’s activity on the system. This report provides a section for the traffic generated, root access attempts, services denied, and user database actions involving the specified user. host_traffic This report produces proxy information for source host systems on internal and external networks. You might use this data for tracking which systems have the heaviest traffic going to and from the Sidewinder G2. The report lists the source host, the number of kB sent to the server, the number of kB sent to the client, the total number of kB, and the number of connections that were made. Note: This report is automatically generated and e-mailed on a daily basis to the Sidewinder G2 administrator. See “Viewing administrator mail messages on Sidewinder G2” on page 350 for information on viewing this e-mail. More... 553
