Activating the Sidewinder G2 license
5 In the Firewall ID field, use the drop-down list to select a MAC address to
use as your firewall ID. There will be one MAC address listed for each NIC
in the firewall.
Tip: If your management console does not have Web access, move to a
workstation that has Web access. Bring a copy of the serial number and MAC
address with you to the Web-accessible workstation.
6 Use a Web browser to access the Sidewinder G2 activation Web page:
https://www.securecomputing.com/cgi-bin/sidewinder-activation.cgi
7 Complete the form on the Web site and click Submit. A confirmation screen
appears.
8 Verify that the information you entered is correct, then do one of the
following:
• If correct, click Submit. After a minute or so, a new Web page appears
displaying the activation key.
• If not correct, use the Back button to return to the form and correct the
information.
9 Using the on-screen instructions, save the activation key to a floppy
diskette.
Tip: You may choose to continue following the on-screen instructions for
importing the file via command line, or use the Admin Console instructions
given here.
10 Insert the diskette into the management system’s floppy diskette drive.
11 From your management console, select Firewall Administration -> Firewall
License.
12 Click the Firewall tab.
13 Click the Import Key button to import the key into the Sidewinder G2. Enter
information into the following fields:
• Source: Select Local File
• File: Enter the name of the file that contains the activation key. Click the
Browse button if needed.
14 Click OK to approve the specified file. The activation key is extracted from
the file and written to the Activation Key field.
15 From the Admin Console menu, select Firewall Administration -> System
Shutdown.
16 From the System Shutdown window, select Reboot to Operational Kernel
and specify your shutdown time.
17 Click Execute Shutdown. Once it finishes rebooting, your Sidewinder G2
Security Appliance and the features you licensed will activate.
18 To complete the licensing process, fill in the information fields in the Firewall
License windows. See “Entering information on the Contact tab” on page 58
and “Entering information on the Company tab” on page 59 for details.
