Chapter 18: Monitoring Viewing network traffic information Viewing network traffic information 518 Figure 212: Dashboard: Network Traffic area The dashboard’s Network Traffic area, shown in Figure 212, displays information on network traffic passing through the Sidewinder G2. View information such as number of interfaces up and receiving traffic, number of active IP Filter rules, number of active VPN sessions, and number of active proxy connections. Use this area of the dashboard to monitor the following: • Interface Status — Displays the status of all physical and VLAN interfaces in the Sidewinder G2 and the total number of inbound/outbound bytes processed since startup. Click Interface Status to view additional information about each interface. See “About the Network Traffic: Interface Status window” on page 519 for more information. • IP Filter Sessions — Displays the number of IP Filter sessions that are currently open on this Sidewinder G2. An IP Filter rule must have Stateful Packet Inspection enabled to create a session. • VPN Sessions — Click VPN Sessions to view additional information about configured VPNs. See “About the Network Traffic: Active VPNs window” on page 519 for more information. • Proxy Connections — This area lists each proxy that is currently passing traffic and the number of instances. Click Proxy Connections to view additional information about current proxy connections. See “About the Network Traffic: Proxy Connections window” on page 520 for more information.
Figure 213: Network Traffic: Interface Status window About the Network Traffic: Interface Status window Figure 214: Network Traffic: Active VPNs window About the Network Traffic: Active VPNs window Chapter 18: Monitoring Viewing network traffic information This window provides traffic information for each of the physical and VLAN network interfaces on this Sidewinder G2. • Interface — Displays the name of the interface • IP Address — Displays the IP address assigned to that interface • Status — Displays if the interface’s status is up (ready for an active network connection) or down (will not accept an active network connection) • Connected — Displays Connected if Sidewinder G2 detects an active network connection and Disconnected if it does not You can also view this information at a command line interface by typing netstat -is. When you are finished viewing the status, click Close. This window allows you to monitor the status of all configured VPNs. The statuses include: • Idle — No active session. • Active — One or more VPNs have active sessions established for this VPN. Click Refresh to update the information. Click Close to return to the main window. 519
