473 Rufus Graves <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in Bridgewater,<br />

N. H., Sept. 14, 1800, was a merchant in New Hampton,<br />

N. H., <strong>and</strong> dealer in real estate in Alabama <strong>and</strong> Mississippi,<br />

a leading man in the town, <strong>and</strong> a patron <strong>of</strong> the New<br />

Hampton Institute. He married at Concord, N. H., Oct.<br />

9, 1828, Sally Smith, born April 4, 1806, <strong>and</strong> died Oct. 15,<br />

1878, daughter <strong>of</strong> Daniel Smith. He died Sept. 27, 1869.<br />

Children <strong>of</strong> Rufus G. <strong>and</strong> Sally, born in New Hampton,<br />

N. H. :<br />

820. EDWIN CRESWELL, b. Nov. 28, 1836; grad. <strong>of</strong> Harvard College,<br />

1859; editor <strong>and</strong> proprietor <strong>of</strong> the Laconia, N. H., Demo-<br />

crat; member <strong>of</strong> the Governor's Council; served on the<br />

School Board <strong>and</strong> the Executive Committee <strong>of</strong> the New<br />

Hampton Institute. Lives in Laconia, N. H. He married<br />

Mrs. Eliza B. (Hilton) <strong>Lewis</strong>, widow <strong>of</strong> <strong>his</strong> brother, Rufus<br />

Smith <strong>Lewis</strong> (823).<br />

477 Jonathan <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in Harvard, Mass., July<br />

6, 1787, was taken to Concord, Vt., Mar. 20, 1788, when<br />

less than one year old, <strong>and</strong> lived there until <strong>his</strong> death,<br />

Aug. 6, 1877. He married there, Jan. 5, 1819, Lucretia<br />

McCarty Willard, born April 13, 1794, at Hartl<strong>and</strong>, Vt.<br />

She died in Concord, Vt., in 1880.
