9 Thomas <strong>Lewis</strong>, born June 2, 1663, in <strong>Lynn</strong>, married<br />

Mary Breed born in <strong>Lynn</strong>, Aug. 24, 1664, daughter<br />

<strong>of</strong> Allen jr. <strong>and</strong> Elizabeth (Ballard) Breed.<br />

He was a yeoman <strong>and</strong> innholder, succeeding <strong>his</strong> father.<br />

He died Jan. 28, 1713-14, aged 50 years. She died Jan.19,<br />

1736-7, aged 74 years. HisVill made Jan. 27, 1713-14, the<br />

day before <strong>his</strong> death, follows : " I Thomas <strong>Lewis</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Lynn</strong><br />

in ye County <strong>of</strong> Essex in ye Province <strong>of</strong> ye <strong>Massachusetts</strong><br />

Bay in New Engl<strong>and</strong> being weak <strong>of</strong> Body yet God affording<br />

to me my Reason & perfect underst<strong>and</strong>ing. . .1 will <strong>and</strong><br />

bequeath as followeth. Imp—That all my honest & Just<br />

debts be truly & honestly payd. I give to my beloved<br />

wife Mary one third part <strong>of</strong> all my movable estate <strong>of</strong> what<br />

kind soever to give & dispose as she shall cause <strong>and</strong> my<br />

said wife to have ye best room in my Dwelling house at<br />

ye Wood end to dwell In so long as she remains my wife,<br />

<strong>and</strong> further my Will is y* my eldest son John <strong>Lewis</strong> shall<br />

provide corn, meat, firewood, <strong>and</strong> all things necessary for<br />

my Wife's comfortable subsistance so long as she remain<br />

my Widow. My said Wife accepting <strong>of</strong> all as above in<br />

Lieu or consideration <strong>of</strong> dower or thirds in my Estate. I<br />

give <strong>and</strong> bequeath to my eldest son John <strong>Lewis</strong> <strong>his</strong> heirs,<br />

all my housing, l<strong>and</strong>s, both upl<strong>and</strong>, salt, <strong>and</strong> pasture <strong>and</strong><br />

woodl<strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> what kind soever, over <strong>and</strong> above what I have<br />

given him allread}- by Deed <strong>of</strong> Gift, my said son providing<br />

for my above Wife, <strong>his</strong> Mother, all things as above de-<br />

scribed <strong>and</strong> he paying all my just <strong>and</strong> honest debts at <strong>his</strong><br />

own cost <strong>and</strong> charge. I give <strong>and</strong> bequeath to my son<br />

Joseph <strong>Lewis</strong> <strong>and</strong> to my daughters Mary Mower, Abigail<br />

<strong>Lewis</strong>, Unice <strong>Lewis</strong> <strong>and</strong> Ruth <strong>Lewis</strong> all my movable Estate<br />

<strong>of</strong> what kind soever, to be equally divided between<br />

them, my said five children (excepting only so much <strong>of</strong><br />

my said movable estate as I have, in t<strong>his</strong> my Will already<br />

given to my Wife) said part to remain to her as aforesaid.<br />

My son Joseph shall be put out to a trade as my<br />

Wife shall judge best. I appoint my son John <strong>Lewis</strong> sole<br />

executor to t<strong>his</strong> my last Will & Testament & for ye confirmation<br />

here <strong>of</strong> ye Thomas <strong>Lewis</strong> have hereunto affixed<br />

my h<strong>and</strong> & scale the day <strong>of</strong> date here <strong>of</strong> ye twenty seventh
