Thomas <strong>Lewis</strong> married, April 19, 1770, in <strong>Lynn</strong>, Sarah<br />

Merry, born in <strong>Lynn</strong> Nov. 19, 1750, daughter <strong>of</strong> Ralph <strong>and</strong><br />

Sarah (Noah) Merry. She died in Boston, May 22, 1835.<br />

88 Nathaniel <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in <strong>Lynn</strong>, Nov. 14, 1751,<br />

was a cordwainer, <strong>and</strong> removed to Plymouth, Mass. He<br />

was lieutenant in Capt. Abraham Hammett's company,<br />

which marched on the alarm <strong>of</strong> April 19, 1775; also a<br />

subaltern in Capt. Thos. Mahew's company, in Col. Cot-<br />

ton's regiment, stationed at Roxbury ; also lieutenant in<br />

the same company <strong>and</strong> regiment on a muster roll dated<br />

Aug. 1, 1775 ; also in Capt. Lathrop's company, Col.<br />

Freeman's regiment, probably in 1778, guarding prisoners<br />

belonging to the (British) ship Somerset. The will <strong>of</strong><br />

Lucy <strong>Lewis</strong>, <strong>his</strong> widow, made Dec. 9, 1852, mentions,<br />

Mary Elizabeth <strong>Edmund</strong>s, wife <strong>of</strong> J. Lincoln <strong>Edmund</strong>s ;<br />

Georgianna Shaw, wife <strong>of</strong> George Shattuck Shaw ; <strong>and</strong><br />

Cornelia <strong>and</strong> Grace Hens haw, children <strong>of</strong> her daughter<br />

Mary Ann Henshaw, wife <strong>of</strong> John Henshaw, deceased.<br />

John Andrew Henshaw, son <strong>of</strong> her daughter Mary Ann<br />

Henshaw, also received a legacy. To her daughter-in-law,<br />

Mary C. <strong>Lewis</strong>, wife <strong>of</strong> her son Charles H. <strong>Lewis</strong>, is given<br />

the miniature likeness <strong>of</strong> her sons, Charles H. <strong>and</strong> George<br />

A. <strong>Lewis</strong>, which are set in one frame. All the rest <strong>of</strong> her<br />

property to her children, Hannah <strong>Lewis</strong>, wife <strong>of</strong> John<br />

<strong>Lewis</strong> ; Lucy S. Danforth, wife <strong>of</strong> Joseph Danforth ; <strong>Edmund</strong><br />

H., Samuel S., Charles H., <strong>and</strong> George A. <strong>Lewis</strong><br />

(Middlesex County Probate, file 28,984). She was a<br />

pensioner <strong>of</strong> the United States, at the rate <strong>of</strong> $106.66 a<br />

year.<br />

Nathaniel <strong>Lewis</strong> married, first, Hannah Drew, born 1752,<br />

<strong>and</strong> died May 29, 1790, in her 38th year (Plymouth Epitaphs),<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> James <strong>and</strong> Mary (Churchill) Drew.<br />

He married, second, Sept., 1791, Lucy Shaw, born in<br />

Plymouth, June 2, 1773, <strong>and</strong> died in Maiden, June 2,
