258 Robert <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in <strong>Lynn</strong>, April 3, 1774 or<br />

1775 (recorded in both years), <strong>and</strong> died Dec. 28, 1854 &<br />

79 y. 8 m. 24 d. His will made Dec. 27, 1854 gives to<br />

wife Hannah all estate <strong>of</strong> every description wherever, after<br />

her decease ; to go to <strong>his</strong> children, Sally Rich : Mary Stone :<br />

Robert : Abigail Fowler : Asa : Benjamin H : Otis : War-<br />

ren: Jacob M. <strong>and</strong> to <strong>his</strong> wife's daughter Hannah, wife<br />

<strong>of</strong> Nathaniel Boynton.<br />

He married, first, Aug. 13, 1797, Abigail Phillips, probably<br />

the daughter <strong>of</strong> William <strong>and</strong> Sarah (Bartlett) Phillips<br />

<strong>of</strong> Marblehead, who died Aug. 23, 1810. He married,<br />

second, Mar. 31, 1812 Hannah, widow <strong>of</strong> Benjamin<br />

Humphreys who was lost at sea in 1802. She was born<br />

in Marblehead, Mar. 16, 1778, <strong>and</strong> was the daughter <strong>of</strong><br />

Benjamin <strong>and</strong> Jemima (Gale) Humphreys <strong>of</strong> Marblehead.<br />

She died Feb. 12, 1855. All the sons worked at shoemaking<br />

in winter <strong>and</strong> went fishing in the summer.<br />

<strong>Lynn</strong>, Mar. 23, 1870, son <strong>of</strong> James <strong>and</strong> Hannah (Baker) Rich<br />

<strong>of</strong> Nantucket. He was a shoemaker <strong>and</strong> grocer in <strong>Lynn</strong>,<br />

<strong>and</strong> had born in <strong>Lynn</strong>: (1) Abigail Phillips, b. Nov. 30, 1816;<br />

m. Oct. 5, 1886, Edwin Breed. (2) Mary Etta, b. Apr. 6,<br />

1819, d. young. (3) William Allen, b. Oct. 26, 1821; m. Caro-<br />

line G. Stone. (4) Sally Maria, b. Sept. 15, 1823; m. 1st<br />

Dunshuttle; m. 2d George Arrington. (5) Martha Ellen, b.<br />

Sept. 15, 1823; m. John Hamilton Brown. (6) Stephen Sum-<br />

ner, b. July 7, 1826. (7) Elbridge Everett, b. May 25, 1832.<br />

(8) Eliza Jane, b. Jan. 13, 1834; m. Henry M. Batchelder.<br />

566. MARY HODGES, b. Dec. 3, 1804; d. June 4, 1878, m. in <strong>Lynn</strong>,<br />

Oct. 1, 1820, Williams Stone, b. Apr. 26, 1796, d. in <strong>Lynn</strong>,<br />

Feb. 28, 1865, son <strong>of</strong> Caleb <strong>and</strong> Anna (Williams) Stone <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Lynn</strong>. He was a wholesale fish dealer. His father Caleb<br />

Stone was a Frenchman who came ashore at Nahant on a<br />

bunch <strong>of</strong> sea weed from a whaling vessel that was<br />

wrecked <strong>of</strong>f Nahant. Children born in <strong>Lynn</strong>: (1) Emeline,<br />

b. Apr. 4, 1821. (2) William, b. Apr. 10, 1823. (3) Mary<br />

Abigail, b. July 26, 1826. (4) Anna Williams, b. Feb. 5,<br />
