500 William Crosby <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in Groton,<br />

Mass., Sept. 15, 1800, where he died Sept. 13, 1861. He<br />

married in Westboro, Mass., Oct. 2, 1835, Emeline Augusta<br />

Bellows, daughter <strong>of</strong> Asahel <strong>and</strong> Hannah (Valen-<br />

tine) Bellows. Lived in Groton, where he was sheriff.<br />

Child <strong>of</strong> William Crosby <strong>and</strong> Emeline Augusta, born<br />

in Groton :<br />

871. WILLIAM HENRY HARBISON, b. Nov. 30, 1840. He received<br />

<strong>his</strong> early education at Lawrence Academy, <strong>and</strong> graduated at<br />

Bellevue Hospital Medical College, New York City, in 1864,<br />

<strong>and</strong> practiced at Bergen Point <strong>and</strong> Newark, N. J. In 1861<br />

he dropped the name <strong>of</strong> Harrison. He m., 1st, Dec. 24, 1861,<br />

Serene, daughter <strong>of</strong> Jonathan <strong>and</strong> Maria Ann (Churchill)<br />

Buffington <strong>of</strong> Roxbury, Mass., who, on Sept. 10, 1870, ob-<br />

tained a divorce. He m., 2d, in Newark, N. J., Oct. 4, 1890,<br />

Olivia Prescott Woodford, b. in New York City, Oct. 22,<br />

1852, daughter <strong>of</strong> Oliver Prescott <strong>and</strong> Elizabeth (Burnell)<br />

Woodford, <strong>of</strong> Irvington on the Hudson, N. Y. He died suddenly<br />

<strong>of</strong> heart disease, at Santa Barbara, Calif., April 24,<br />

1905, where he had resided for several years. He was a<br />

genial, whole-souled gentleman, highly esteemed in the<br />

community in which he lived.<br />

501 Marshall <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in Townsend, Mass.,<br />

Oct. 16, 1794, died Sept. 11, 1825, <strong>of</strong> fever caused by<br />

running after a runaway yoke <strong>of</strong> oxen. Sept. 27, 1825,<br />

administration was granted on <strong>his</strong> estate, <strong>his</strong> widow Sally<br />

<strong>and</strong> only child, Marshall A., being named as heirs (Middlesex<br />

County Probate Records, file 9980). He married, May<br />

30, 1822, Sally Adams, born in Townsend, Dec. 4, 1799,<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Capt. Joseph <strong>and</strong> Mary (Brooks) Adams <strong>of</strong><br />

Townsend, Mass. After <strong>his</strong> death she married, second,<br />

Samuel Warner, who died May 24, 1880, by whom she<br />

had four children. She died May 13, 1880.<br />

Child <strong>of</strong> Marshall <strong>and</strong> Sally, born in Townsend :<br />

872. MARSHALL ADAMS, b. April 15, 1823; m., May 23, 1865, a<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Amos <strong>and</strong> Martha (Choate) Carter <strong>of</strong> Blue<br />

Hill, Me., b. May 3, 1837. He was engaged in the notion<br />

business on Washington street, near Cornhill, Boston, <strong>and</strong><br />

was found dead in <strong>his</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice, with the door fastened, on May<br />

23, 1883. He lived in Newton, Mass.
