288 Richard <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in <strong>Lynn</strong>, Nov. 6, 1802,<br />

was a shoemaker <strong>and</strong> lived on Summer St., Maiden, Mass.,<br />

during <strong>his</strong> married life <strong>and</strong> died there Jan. 18, 1878. He<br />

married, Nov. 16, 1825, Hannah Farnham, born in Ando-<br />

ver, Mass., Sept. 30, 1804, who died at Maiden, May 25,<br />

1886, daughter <strong>of</strong> Timothy <strong>and</strong> Sarah (Berry) Farnham<br />

<strong>of</strong> Andover, Mass. In 1832 they adopted a daughter <strong>of</strong><br />

her brother, Lydia Ann Farnham, born Aug. 28, 1830,<br />

<strong>and</strong> died Nov. 30, 1855, who married July 20, 1850, William<br />

C<strong>of</strong>fin Peabody <strong>and</strong> had two children : (1) Elizabeth<br />

Frances ; (2) George. All are now dead.<br />

642. HENRIETTA FARNHAM, b. Sept. 8, 1840 ; m. May 3, 1871, James<br />

Scales, b. Aug. 8, 1830, in Rotherhithe, London, Eng. ; son<br />

<strong>of</strong> James Boughton <strong>and</strong> Caroline Maria (Bisley) Scales.<br />

Child: (1) Josie Gertrude, b. Sept. 5, 1872; m. Nov. 12,<br />

1894, Henry Austin Dunshee. Live on the homestead <strong>of</strong><br />

Richard in Maiden, Mass.<br />

294 Stephen <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in <strong>Lynn</strong>, Jan. 4, 1794,<br />

was a silk dyer <strong>and</strong> finisher, employed at the Maiden Dye<br />

House for many years, <strong>and</strong> later moved to <strong>Lynn</strong>, where he<br />

died Mar. 10, 1855. He married at Maiden, April 8,<br />

1821, Dolly Wood, born in Bradford, Mass., Apr. 28,<br />

1793, who died April 26, 1861, daughter <strong>of</strong> Lieut. Thomas<br />

<strong>and</strong> Dolly (Carleton) Wood <strong>of</strong> Bradford.<br />

Children <strong>of</strong> Stephen <strong>and</strong> Dolly, first 3 born in Maiden,<br />

last in <strong>Lynn</strong><br />

644. JANE, b. Oct. 2, 1825; m. at Woburn, Mass., Nov. 16, 1848,<br />

Henry Symonds, b. Jan. 17, 1819; d. Jan. 27, 1873; son <strong>of</strong><br />

Zebadee <strong>and</strong> Amittia (Webber) Symonds, <strong>of</strong> Lincoln, Mass.<br />

Children: (1) Clara Josephine, b. Nov. 2, 1849; m. May 8,<br />

1872, Dwight M. Clapp, b. June 5, 1846, son <strong>of</strong> Moses <strong>and</strong><br />

Almira (Russell) Clapp <strong>of</strong> Southampton, Mass.; (2) Emma<br />

Frances, b. July 30, 1852; m. Charles B. Dennis, son <strong>of</strong> Wil-<br />

lard <strong>and</strong> Hannah Dennis <strong>of</strong> Fitchburg, Mass.<br />

645. ALMIRA, b. Oct. 1, 1829; m. Heath.<br />

646. CHARLES WINSLOW, b. Jan. 7, 1832. His birth record <strong>and</strong> <strong>his</strong><br />

father's will call him Winslow. In the record <strong>of</strong> <strong>his</strong> marriage<br />

he is Charles Winslow <strong>and</strong> in the record <strong>of</strong> <strong>his</strong> death<br />

he is Charles W., a soldier.
