tinued for forty years. He removed to Rutl<strong>and</strong>, Vt., in<br />

1853, <strong>and</strong> held responsible <strong>of</strong>fices in both city <strong>and</strong> county <strong>of</strong><br />

Rutl<strong>and</strong>, Vt. ; was president <strong>of</strong> the Marble Savings Bank<br />

13 years, <strong>and</strong> trustee-director in the Rutl<strong>and</strong> County Na-<br />

tional Bank for over 20 years. He m., 1st, Mar. 13, 1848,<br />

Emily Williams Allen <strong>of</strong> Wallingford, Vt., b. Sept. 25, 1826,<br />

<strong>and</strong> d. June 14, 1894. He m., 2d, Mar. 4, 1896, Eliza Johnson<br />

White <strong>of</strong> South Hadley Falls, Mass., b. Aug. 5, 1835; d.<br />

Nov. 13, 1902. No issue.<br />

490 Moses <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in Koxbury, Vt., May 19,<br />

1797, was a Methodist minister connected with the N. H.<br />

<strong>and</strong> Vt. conferences, from 1831 until <strong>his</strong> death, Sept. 26,<br />

1869. He married Apr. 8, 1819, Satira Davenport, horn<br />

May 3, 1799, who died Jan. 8, 1863.<br />

He graduated at Dartmouth College in 1807, read law<br />

with Judge Dana <strong>of</strong> Groton <strong>and</strong> practised in Marlboro in<br />

1810, removing to Pepperrell, Mass., May 12, 1812. He<br />

was a member <strong>of</strong> the State legislature <strong>and</strong> senate, <strong>and</strong> died<br />

in Boston, Feb. 6, 1845. He married Jan. 17, 1819, Harriet<br />

Parker, born Jan. 15, 1798, <strong>and</strong> died Mar. 26, 1875,<br />

in Newburyport, Mass., daughter <strong>of</strong> Samuel <strong>and</strong> Submit<br />

(Gilson) Parker <strong>of</strong> Pepperrell.
