N. H. He removed from Roxbury, Vt., to Williamstown,<br />

Vt, where he died July 27, 1824. He married, Oct. 14,<br />

1789, Elizabeth Cram, born at Lyndeboro, N. H. Jan.<br />

2, 1764, daughter <strong>of</strong> David <strong>and</strong> Mary (Badger) Cram,<br />

who died Feb. 26, 1845.<br />

222 James <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in Billerica, Mass., Jan. 26,<br />

1761, was a major in the militia. He removed to Groton,<br />

May 24, 1796, <strong>and</strong> was a deputy sheriff from 1809 to<br />

1813. He was a justice <strong>of</strong> the peace from Feb. 25, 1811,<br />

until <strong>his</strong> death ; postmaster at Groton from Sept. 9, 1815,<br />

until July 1, 1826, <strong>and</strong> also appointed postmaster for<br />

Pepperell in 1818. He was appointed coroner for life on<br />

July 4, 1803. He was a democrat. He bequeathed to
