171 Samuel Shaw <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in Plymouth, June<br />

19, 1799 ; married in Boston, Nov. 3, 1824 ; Hannah<br />

Bracket <strong>Lewis</strong> (^340).<br />

He was a member <strong>of</strong> the Ancient <strong>and</strong> Honorable Artillery<br />

Co., 1845-1849. He was agent <strong>of</strong> the Cunard Steamship<br />

Co. <strong>and</strong> also various railroads, <strong>and</strong> originator <strong>of</strong> the<br />

project for filling in what is now Commercial Street,<br />

Boston. He was one <strong>of</strong> the principal promoters <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Gr<strong>and</strong> Junction R. R.<br />

His wife died June 4, 1859, <strong>and</strong> he died in 1869, in<br />

Boston.<br />
