sold <strong>his</strong> farm in Dracut, Mass., taking Continental money<br />

for pay, which became worthless, making him a poor man<br />

with a large family to support. He possessed an independent<br />

spirit. A powder horn with <strong>his</strong> initials upon it was<br />

presented by <strong>his</strong> son Reuben to the Groton Historical Society.<br />

He married, May 17, 1770, Abigail Shed, born Feb.<br />

13, 1748, oldest child <strong>of</strong> Daniel <strong>and</strong> Abigail (Patten)<br />

Shed, <strong>and</strong> died in Groton, May 4, 1804, where she also<br />

died Oct. 20, 1817.<br />

131 Samuel <strong>Lewis</strong>, born June 10, 1746, married<br />

June 3, 1773, Betty Parker. He was then <strong>of</strong> Chelmsford,<br />

Mass. The following record was furnished in 1898 by<br />

<strong>his</strong> gr<strong>and</strong>daughter Mrs. Nancy C. Robinson <strong>of</strong> Townsend,<br />

Mass.<br />
