for debt. He was a selectman im 1801 <strong>and</strong> 1802, <strong>and</strong><br />

paid taxes on a tannery in 1810. He removed to Gainesville,<br />

Ala., where he died Jan. 10, 1852. He married,<br />

Aug. 15, 1794, at Alex<strong>and</strong>ria, N. H., Sally, born in Pembroke,<br />

N. H., July 21, 1776, daughter <strong>of</strong> William <strong>and</strong><br />

Jane (McDonald) Martin <strong>of</strong> Pembroke, N. H.<br />

Children <strong>of</strong> Moses <strong>and</strong> Sally, born in Bridge water, N. H.<br />

215 Jonathan <strong>Lewis</strong>, born March 20, 1758, in Bil-<br />

lerica, Mass., was a Revolutionary soldier, <strong>and</strong> was at the<br />

battle <strong>of</strong> Bunker Hill <strong>and</strong> at the surrender <strong>of</strong> Gen. Burgoyne<br />

near Saratoga, N. Y. He was <strong>of</strong> Pepperrell, <strong>and</strong><br />

removed to Harvard, Mass., where, according to <strong>his</strong> family<br />

Bible, he married, first, widow Hannah (Willard) Tur-<br />

ner, daughter <strong>of</strong> Dr. Lemuel Willard, who died A ug. 1,<br />

1785. (She had one child by her first marriage.) He married,<br />

second, Sept. 28, 1786, Sarah Warren, who died July<br />

2, 1795, at Concord, Vt. He married, third, March 22,<br />

1796, at Royalston, Mass., Lucy Stockwell, who died Jan.<br />

1, 1841. He removed from Harvard, Mass., to Concord,<br />

Vt., March 20, 1788, <strong>and</strong> from thence to Kirby, Vt, March<br />

20, 1806, where he was the first town clerk <strong>and</strong> an influential<br />

man. He died at Kirby, Vt., Aug. 1, 1841.<br />
