32. JOSEPH, b. Aug. 6, 1672.<br />

33. SYBIL, b. Mar. 18, 1674; m. in 1700, at Maiden, Samuel Howard<br />

<strong>of</strong> Maiden, <strong>and</strong> had: (1) Samuel, b. Apr. 25, 1701;<br />

m. July 12, 1727, Elizabeth Wayte; lived in Maiden. (2)<br />

Joseph, b. Nov., 1702; d. May 18, 1725. (3) Mary, b. about<br />

1708; m. Sept. 6, 1733, Thomas Mighills <strong>of</strong> Pomfret, Conn.<br />

(4) Sybill, b. about 1712; m. Dec. 27, 1738, Reuben Darbe <strong>of</strong><br />

Pomfret, Conn. (5) Benjamin, b. in 1714; d. 1763; m. June<br />

19, 1740, Abigail Walton <strong>of</strong> Reading. Settled at Maiden, <strong>and</strong><br />

removed to Holden, Mass., in 1749.<br />

The following memor<strong>and</strong>um, filed in Middlesex County<br />

Probate, file 8876, is interesting pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> the relationship<br />

<strong>of</strong> all the parties thereto.<br />

" Deacon Samuel Howard's mother was sister to the<br />

deceased* by <strong>his</strong> mother's side, i. e. : Obadialrs mother<br />

before she married <strong>his</strong> Father—married a <strong>Lewis</strong> & had 2<br />

children. Viz :—Joseph <strong>and</strong> Sibilla, which Sibilla was<br />

mother to the said Samuel Howard, who claims Joseph<br />

was father to Benj m <strong>Lewis</strong>, who also claims Sibilla's children<br />

are Samuel <strong>and</strong> Sibella. Joseph's children are Benjamin,<br />

Joseph <strong>and</strong> Abigail."<br />

The claims were allowed <strong>and</strong> settlement made as above.<br />

7 John <strong>Lewis</strong>, born in <strong>Lynn</strong>, Mar. 30, 1660, was a<br />

lieutenant, <strong>and</strong> was made a freeman Apr. 18,1691. In the<br />

division <strong>of</strong> <strong>his</strong> father's l<strong>and</strong>s he had the south half next<br />

the sea. He died intestate about a year after <strong>his</strong> father,<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>his</strong> widow Elizabeth was appointed administratrix,<br />

June 27, 1711. The inventory <strong>of</strong> <strong>his</strong> estate, taken July<br />

11, 1711, is as follows :<br />

To an house, barn, & l<strong>and</strong> adjoining to<br />

about twenty acres or more, 160 00 00<br />

To 15 acre upl<strong>and</strong> & meadow in same field, 60 00 00<br />

To 7 acres Salt Marsh, 42 00 00<br />

To Common Lotte, 42 00 00<br />

To Forty sheep & two swine, 10 00 00<br />

To Cow & Tools for husb<strong>and</strong>ry, 4 07 00<br />

To Wareing Cloth & Gun, 11 11 00<br />
