184 Aaron <strong>Lewis</strong>, was a private in Capt. Peleg<br />

Peck's Co., Col. John Daggett's regiment, on the alarm at<br />

Rhode Isl<strong>and</strong>, Jan. 14, 1778, <strong>and</strong> was in the same company<br />

in the following August. On Nov. 6, 1820, the selectmen<br />

<strong>of</strong> Dighton complained that he was spending <strong>his</strong><br />

fortune in drink <strong>and</strong> on Nov. 10, Ebenezer Talbot was appointed<br />

as guardian. He married Apr. 4, 1779, Mary,<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Noah Davis <strong>of</strong> Providence, R. I., who died<br />

May 13, 1814.<br />

185 Benjamin <strong>Lewis</strong> born in Dighton, Feb. 16,<br />

1761, married, first, by Elder Jacob Hix, at Rehoboth,<br />

Nov. 23, 1783, Lydia Bosworth, born Oct. 11, 1756, <strong>and</strong><br />

died July 29, 1795, the daughter <strong>of</strong> John <strong>and</strong> Lydia (Capron)<br />

Bosworth. He married, second, by Elder Hix, Mar.<br />

27, 1796, Hannah, daughter <strong>of</strong> Joseph <strong>and</strong> Hannah Rounds<br />

<strong>of</strong> Rehoboth, born Mar. 12, 1777, <strong>and</strong> died June 29, 1853.<br />

He died Feb. 16, 1849, on <strong>his</strong> 88th birthday. Of <strong>his</strong> re-<br />

markable family <strong>of</strong> eighteen children, thirteen reached the<br />

age <strong>of</strong> 66 years or upwards <strong>and</strong> possessed a marked degree<br />

<strong>of</strong> individuality. Most <strong>of</strong> the men were masons, <strong>and</strong> they<br />

ably carved out their way to success in life.<br />
