Adjustments
This chapter documents the adjustments for the HP 8648 and the
service support software that is used for the automated adjustments.
There are both manual and automated adjustment procedures
documented in this chapter. This chapter is organized with the
following order:
Manual adjustments procedures
Automated adjustment descriptions
w Service support software description
Refer to ‘lable 5-2 for information regarding which adjustments should
be performed after an assembly is repaired or replaced.
Test Equipment The required test equipment for the adjustments is listed in ‘Ruble 5-l.
Along with the required test equipment, this table lists the critical
specifications of each, the recommended model number, and the
adjustments that this equipment is used to perform.
Equipment Setup for The complete test equipment setup includes the HP 8648 that is being
Automated Tests tested (the DUT), a personal computer (PC) that runs the adjustment
software, and the various instruments that make up the electronic
test equipment. The PC must have a Hewlett-Packard Interface Bus
(HP-IB) installed in one of its card slots. The DUT is connected to
the PCs HP-IB card via a Hewlett-Packard Interface Bus (HP-IB)
cable. Another HP-IB cable connects the PC to the electronic test
equipment. The electronic test equipment must be connected together
via additional HP-IB cables.
Note Although the test setup illustrations do not show the PC or the HP-IB
cable connections, these connections are required to perform the
automated tests and adjustments.
