The largest source of GHG emissions for most crop systems comes from nitrous oxide<br />

(N2O) emissions from fertilized soils (Figure 4), 55, 56 with additional emissions coming<br />

from irrigation, on-farm energy use, and manure sources, with each of these varying in<br />

their net emissions depending on the system. 57, 58 The relative contributions of GHG<br />

emissions generated from global on-farm agricultural practices, not including<br />

contributions from transportation, are presented in Figure 4.<br />
