About the author<br />

Jonathan M Woodham has been active the field of design history<br />

since 1975 and is Director of the Centre for Research and Development<br />

(Arts and Humanities) at the University of Brighton. He<br />

is currently engaged in substantially rewriting his best-selling<br />

Twentieth Century Design (1997) and researching for a new<br />

book on British Design 1914 – 2015: Empire, Welfare State, and<br />
