Chandrika’s narrative illustrates how a semiotic register of marriage and class-cultural identity sets the stage for collective preparation for traditional feminine roles and heteronormative institution of marrrige through the most effective strategy of ‘playful fun’. The communal and gendered connotation underpinning this ‘playful’ performance of Shnidur Khela, effectively reproduces through individual’s ‘subjectification’ to it, the cultural constructions of the ‘heterosexual imaginary’ (Ingraham, 1996).
