We are indebted to the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment
Program (OCSEAP) for the two years of funding with which the Larval
Decapod Program was supported (NOAA/OCSEAP Contract NA-81-RAC-00059).

details from budgets to ship logistics.
Their expertise was invaluable
to us as novices in the system of government contracts; their patience,
encouragement, and compliments are deeply appreciated.
Dr. Steven
Zimmerman was our constant line of communication between OCSEAP and the
University (a job that no doubt aged him some), an astute scientific
critic of this work, and solace on many days when the world seemed to
set the project back.
Dr. Jawed Hameedi helped formulate the scope of
the project, and provided a very useful perspective on the application
of scientific information to the assessment goals of OCSEAP.
Jody
Hilton and Steve Zimmerman helped smooth several rough financial transactions
with the University,George Lapiene helped arrange ship logistics
in 1982, and Dean Dale aided us with data management.
A portion of the
data reported here was collected in 1982 under NMFS Contract 82-ABC-
00158 while onboard OCSEAP research cruises. We thank both agencies for
cooperating in providing that additional research opportunity, especially
Drs. Murray Hayes and Steve Zimmerman and Mr. Lyman Thorsteinson for
encouragement to develop the project.
Our program was greatly aided and strengthened by many forms of
