Service (NMFS) groundfish surveys in 1981, and was instrumental in
securing funds for research related to the Larval Decapod Program (NOAA/
NMFS Grant 80-ABH-00045; NOAA/NMFS 82-ABC-00158).
Drs. Art Kendall
(NMFS) and Ted Cooney (Univ. Alaska, Fairbanks) loaned us scores of
zooplankton samples collected during past cruises.
The scientists of
the PROBES program (NSF Grant DPP76-23340) have been generous in
offering shipboard time for our collections and access to the oceanographic
data collected during PROBES cruises.
Drs. Sharon Smith and
Julio Vidal and their co-workers, in particular, are to be thanked for
sharing their collecting gear and innumerable samples with us. Dr. T.
Saunders English, Terry Butler, Gayle Herron, Kendra Daly, and Paul
Walline have all been generous with their expertise.
Brett Dumbauld,
Randy Whitman and Linda Crew conscientiously performed their many tasks
in the laboratory, and Katie Swanson provided critical help with computer
programming.
Finally, the masters and crews of the research vessels
T. G. Thompson, Alaska, Chapman, Discoverer and Miller Freeman have
cheerfully assisted these studies in many ways.
To all, may we express
our sincere gratitude.
