Clinical experience is provided in the member hospitals on a rotating<br />
basis. Clinical instructors will guide the student utilizing appropriate<br />

Theories <strong>of</strong> Management and Leadership (2 cr.)<br />
This course is designed to educate the student in current theories and<br />
approaches to management and leadership.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Aspects <strong>of</strong> Anesthesia I (1 cr.)<br />
This course presents a series <strong>of</strong> topics directly related to the<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional discipline <strong>of</strong> nurse anesthesia. Topics include history,<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional roles and responsibilities, cultural diversity, ethical issues,<br />
the state pr<strong>of</strong>essional organization and the American Association <strong>of</strong><br />
Nurse Anesthetists.<br />
Admission Requirements<br />
Applicants for the master <strong>of</strong> science degree program must meet the<br />
admission requirements <strong>of</strong> <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>University</strong> graduate program<br />
and the admission requirements <strong>of</strong> the Minneapolis School <strong>of</strong><br />
Anesthesia.<br />

1. Be accepted into the Minneapolis School <strong>of</strong> Anesthesia.<br />

2. Following acceptance into the Minneapolis School <strong>of</strong> Anesthesia, an<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Aspects <strong>of</strong> Anesthesia II (1 cr.)<br />
This course presents a series <strong>of</strong> topics directly related to the<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional discipline <strong>of</strong> nurse anesthesia. Topics include continuing<br />
education, credentialing and business, employment and management<br />
trends.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Aspects <strong>of</strong> Anesthesia III (1 cr.)<br />
This course presents a series <strong>of</strong> topics directly related to the<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional discipline <strong>of</strong> nurse anesthesia. Topics include legal issues,<br />
chemical dependency and healthcare policy.<br />

Research Presentation (3 cr.)<br />
In this course, students will prepare literature based papers that examine<br />
and analyze anesthesia related topics. All papers will be in a publishable<br />
format using American Medical Association (AMA) style. The student will<br />
present and defend one <strong>of</strong> the papers before a faculty committee and<br />
students.
