Schools <strong>of</strong> Graduate and Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Programs 23<br />
Tuition and Fees<br />
The tuition and fee schedule is available online at:<br />
www.smumn.edu/sgpptuition.<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s are required to pay the current tuition rate for all classes taken<br />
toward their degree. The tuition is based on the tuition rate <strong>of</strong> the<br />
program through which the course is <strong>of</strong>fered.<br />
<strong>Saint</strong> <strong>Mary's</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Minnesota</strong> reserves the right to revise tuition<br />
payment policies at any time. Should this occur, students will be notified<br />
prior to the effective date <strong>of</strong> the changes.<br />
Method <strong>of</strong> Payment<br />
Billing statements are e-mailed after the 21st <strong>of</strong> each month to the<br />
student’s <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>University</strong> e-mail account. <strong>Student</strong>s are<br />
responsible for checking their e-mail account regularly to access their<br />
tuition account statement. <strong>Student</strong>s may also access their account<br />
information online through WebTools. Payment for classes is due the<br />
15th <strong>of</strong> the following month after the class begins.<br />
Tuition bills may be paid by loan funds directly applied to a student’s account,<br />
by personal check, money order, or ACH (Automatic Clearing House) or<br />
credit card online. <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>University</strong> uses CashNet to process online<br />
payments. CashNet is a PCI Security Standard compliant website.You may<br />
access CashNet through WebTools or the link on your electronic eBill.<br />
A non-refundable fee <strong>of</strong> 2.75% <strong>of</strong> the total amount changed on the credit<br />
card will be applied to the transaction. No fee will be charged for ACH<br />
transactions.<br />
A finance charge <strong>of</strong> 1 % per month (12 % per annum) will be added to all<br />
balances past due. Should it become necessary to forward this account<br />
for collection, the student will be responsible for all additional fees.<br />
To avoid service charges you may pay online the same day that tuition is<br />
due. If you have a hold on your account, paying online will remove the<br />
hold and you will be allowed to register.<br />
Registration for classes at <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Minnesota</strong> indicates<br />
acceptance <strong>of</strong> this tuition payment policy. All students enrolled at <strong>Saint</strong><br />
Mary’s <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Minnesota</strong> are expected to pay each semester’s<br />
tuition in one <strong>of</strong> these ways:<br />
Employer Reimbursement<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s whose employers reimburse their tuition costs need to file a<br />
tuition reimbursement form and their company’s policy with the Office <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Student</strong> Services on the Twin Cities campus. <strong>Student</strong>s are required to<br />
submit a tuition reimbursement form once per academic year. Forms are<br />
available online at www.smumn.edu/sgpp. <strong>Student</strong>s who have a company<br />
reimbursement form and policy on file with <strong>Student</strong> Services will have 30<br />
days after the end <strong>of</strong> the semester to pay their bill. <strong>Student</strong>s waiting for<br />
reimbursement will not be required to pay service charges until 30 days<br />
after the end <strong>of</strong> the semester.<br />
A student choosing to also use financial aid must notify the Financial Aid<br />
Office regarding this outside funding source. Financial aid is applied to<br />
the student’s account balance and will not be refunded if the student is<br />
waiting on other funding.<br />
Military Personnel and Veterans Benefits<br />
The Office <strong>of</strong> <strong>Student</strong> Services processes Montgomery G.I. Bill, Federal<br />
Tuition Assistance, <strong>Minnesota</strong> State Tuition Reimbursement, and the<br />
<strong>Minnesota</strong> G.I. Bill Scholarship. <strong>Student</strong>s that are enrolled at <strong>Saint</strong><br />
Mary’s <strong>University</strong> that are eligible for Department <strong>of</strong> Veterans<br />
Administration benefits should contact <strong>Student</strong> Services regarding<br />
application <strong>of</strong> these benefits for their program.<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s who have benefit forms on file with <strong>Student</strong> Services will have<br />
30 days after the end <strong>of</strong> the semester to pay their bill. <strong>Student</strong>s waiting for<br />
benefits will not be required to pay service charges until 30 days after the<br />
end <strong>of</strong> the semester.<br />

Financial Aid and Scholarships<br />
Degree-seeking students who are enrolled at least half-time may be<br />
eligible for financial aid. <strong>Student</strong>s wishing to use financial aid must<br />
complete a Free Application for Federal <strong>Student</strong> Aid (FAFSA) as soon as<br />
possible. Additional information regarding financial aid can be found at<br />
www.smumn.edu.<br />
<strong>Student</strong> financial aid award packages will include the Federal Stafford<br />
Loan products, if eligible. Upon successful completion <strong>of</strong> the application<br />
and guarantee process, loan proceeds will be credited directly to the<br />
student’s tuition account. If a credit occurs on the tuition account as a<br />
result <strong>of</strong> the student loan, a refund <strong>of</strong> that credit will occur within 10<br />
business days.<br />
Undergraduate students may be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and/or<br />
the <strong>Minnesota</strong> State Grant. Grants will be applied to the student’s tuition<br />
account at the midpoint <strong>of</strong> the semester. If a credit occurs on the tuition<br />
account as a result <strong>of</strong> the grant, a refund <strong>of</strong> that credit will occur within<br />
10 business days.<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s receiving outside scholarships must contact the Financial Aid<br />
Office immediately upon notification <strong>of</strong> the scholarship award. Outside<br />
scholarships will be credited to the student’s tuition account after the<br />
student has completed all procedures requested by the outside agency<br />
and the university has received the funds.<br />
<strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>of</strong>fers a limited number <strong>of</strong> scholarships annually. Information<br />
regarding those scholarships will be announced in the Schools <strong>of</strong><br />
Graduate and Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Programs newsletter. Additional information<br />
regarding scholarships can be found at www.smumn.edu.<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s whose financial aid award package does not cover the<br />
university determined cost <strong>of</strong> education should contact the financial aid<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice to receive information on alternative loan options.<br />
Tuition Refund Due to Course Withdrawal<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s who do not notify the university <strong>of</strong> their intent to withdraw from<br />
a course will result in an unauthorized withdrawal from the course. See<br />
