The Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Allied Healthcare degree completion<br />

program is designed to provide allied healthcare workers the advanced<br />

knowledge and skills needed to expand their healthcare careers. This<br />

program moves beyond current allied health expertise to strengthen<br />

critical thinking and understanding <strong>of</strong> the business, management, and<br />

educational aspects <strong>of</strong> healthcare needed for today’s pr<strong>of</strong>essional.<br />

Program Outcomes<br />

Graduates <strong>of</strong> the Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Allied Healthcare program are<br />

expected to be able to do the following:<br />

1. Demonstrate awareness, respect, and adaptability for socio-cultural<br />

diversity in an ever-changing healthcare environment.<br />

2. Integrate effective and pr<strong>of</strong>essional written, verbal, and interpersonal<br />

communication skills into daily practice.<br />

3. Establish collegial healthcare teams built on individual strengths and<br />

diverse perspectives.<br />

4. Employ effective instructional strategies in a variety <strong>of</strong> allied<br />

healthcare settings.<br />

5. Act through an ethical and pr<strong>of</strong>essional mindset with accountability<br />

for one’s own actions.<br />

6. Incorporate healthcare management skills based on current theory<br />

and practice.<br />

7. Promote staff performance by facilitating personal development and<br />

productive teambuilding.<br />

8. Incorporate basic research skills, information literacy, and data<br />

analysis into evidence-based practices in healthcare.<br />

9. Integrate knowledge <strong>of</strong> healthcare regulation, government, and<br />

healthcare systems into practice.<br />

10. Demonstrate critical thinking skills in healthcare settings.<br />

11. Demonstrate the general education competencies required for<br />

graduation.<br />

Degree Requirements<br />

A minimum <strong>of</strong> 122 credits is required for graduation with a bachelor <strong>of</strong><br />

science degree from <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>University</strong>. All students must meet the<br />

general education credit requirements. A minimum <strong>of</strong> 36 credits is<br />

required to complete the B.S. in Allied Healthcare.<br />
