For midterm-grade calculation, when all components defined as “include in midterm”
have received marks (whether manually or as the result of aggregate subcomponent
marks), the system automatically generates a record in the Student Midterm/Final Grade
table (SHRCMRK), calculates the midterm grades, and updates the Student Course
Registration Repeating table (SFRSTCR).
Note
To include a component in the midterm grade, M must be entered in the
Include Midterm/Final field on the Gradable Component Definition Form
(SHAGCOM).

For final-grade calculation, similar to midterm grades, the system calculates the final
grade, generates or updates (if a midterm mark has already been calculated) the
SHRCMRK table, and updates the SFRSTCR table. This calculation is triggered by the
entry of the last component mark, regardless of the value in the Include Midterm/Final
field on SHAGCOM. The individual component marks (not the midterm composite
marks) are used in final-grade calculation.
When marks (midterm or final) are entered, the system automatically calculates the grades
and enters the values in the midterm/final grade table. The system also updates the
appropriate field(s) on each student’s registration record.
Note
If the mark of an individual component records is changed, the system
recalculates the appropriate grade and the midterm or final grade (if
previously calculated) and updates all tables as necessary. The system
also recalculates grades when the section grade scale is changed. •
Midterm and final grades are not calculated when any of the following situations exist:
• An auto-grade has been applied
• The student's registration status has been changed to non-gradable
• The CRN definition has been changed to non-gradable
• The midterm or final grade entry deadline dates (as defined on the Term Control
Form [SOATERM]) has passed
• The student's grade has been rolled to Academic History.
Grades are rolled to Academic History via the following:
• Grade Roll to Academic History Process (SHRROLL)
• Class Roster Form (SFASLST)
• Class Attendance Roster Form (SFAALST)
