<strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Wilmington</strong><br />
Sec. 18-199. IND, Industrial District<br />
(a) Purpose. The Industrial District is established to accommodate basic<br />
industries and other uses that produce noise, odor, smoke, dust, air borne debris, and<br />
other impacts that might be detrimental to the health, safety, and welfare <strong>of</strong><br />
surrounding uses and neighborhoods in accordance with adopted plans and policies.<br />
The <strong>district</strong> is designed to be located near major transportation facilities (road, rail, air<br />
and/or port) and in areas adequately served by public or private utilities. It should not<br />
be located in a manner that adversely affects existing or planned non-industrial uses.<br />
(b) Uses Permitted by Right. The following uses are permitted by right in the<br />
Industrial District (IND), provided that they meet all requirements <strong>of</strong> this section and<br />
all other applicable requirements established in these <strong>regulations</strong>:<br />
(1) Airport services<br />
(2) Automobile care center<br />
(3) Automobile repair shops<br />
(4) Automotive services, except repair and towing service<br />
(5) Boat building and repair<br />
(6) Boiler shops<br />
(7) Building material dealers<br />
(8) Bus and taxi service<br />
(9) Business services<br />
(10) Chemicals and allied products except acids, gases, and glues<br />
(11) Coal transfer facility<br />
(12) Contractors’ <strong>of</strong>fices<br />
(13) Contractors’ storage lot<br />
(14) Contractors’ equipment and supply dealers and service<br />
(15) Creosote treatment<br />
(16) Divers, commercial<br />
(17) Electric motor repair shop<br />
(18) Electrical and electronic machinery, equipment and supplies<br />
(19) Fabricated metal products, except boiler shops; machinery and<br />
transportation products; metal coating; engraving; and allied services; metal<br />
forgings screw machine products; steel, wire, and pipe structural metal<br />
products; and ordinance<br />
(20) Fats and oils<br />
(21) Fiber optics<br />
(22) Fishing, commercial<br />
(23) Fuel and ice dealers<br />
(24) Garbage collection, private<br />
(25) Gas companies<br />
(26) Launders, industrial<br />
(27) Manufactured housing<br />
