7.6 Explanatory Notes <strong>for</strong> Application Form Questions<br />

The spacing application <strong>for</strong>ms <strong>and</strong> explanatory notes <strong>for</strong> each application type are in<br />

Appendix I. The numbering below corresponds to the questions on the <strong>for</strong>ms.<br />

7.6.1 Schedule 1—<strong>Resources</strong> <strong>Applications</strong><br />

All spacing applications must include Schedule 1—<strong>Resources</strong> <strong>Applications</strong>. You must select<br />

as an application type either Spacing: <strong>Gas</strong> or Spacing: <strong>Oil</strong>. Once selected, the Application<br />

Purpose field is enabled, <strong>and</strong> from the drop-down list you must select one of the following<br />

application purposes:<br />

• New Spacing—to apply <strong>for</strong> a new area of spacing or to amend areas <strong>and</strong>/or provisions of<br />

previously approved spacing.<br />

• Rescind Spacing—to apply to remove existing approved holdings <strong>and</strong> revert to the<br />

underlying DSUs <strong>and</strong> target areas or to remove special DSUs <strong>and</strong> revert to the st<strong>and</strong>ard<br />

DSUs <strong>and</strong> target areas.<br />

• Modify Spacing—to re-align holding boundaries to reflect current mineral ownership,<br />

change buffer zones to reflect the st<strong>and</strong>ard buffer zone <strong>for</strong> the area, <strong>and</strong>/or remove the<br />

interwell distance from an existing holding. Note that a modify spacing application<br />

cannot be used to increase well densities.<br />

In Schedule 1, Sections 3: Locations; 4: Field <strong>and</strong> Pool List; <strong>and</strong> 5: Ownership <strong>and</strong><br />

Notification In<strong>for</strong>mation, questions 2, 2a, <strong>and</strong> 3 are not required <strong>for</strong> well spacing applications.<br />

7.6.2 Spacing Form<br />

7.6.2.1 Notification Requirements<br />

There are no notification requirements <strong>for</strong> applications to rescind holdings or to realign<br />

holding boundaries to reflect common mineral ownership.<br />

1) Were <strong>Directive</strong> <strong>065</strong> notification templates used?<br />

Select YES if all parties were notified using the appropriate notification templates (see<br />

Appendix J).<br />

If you select NO, your application cannot be filed. <strong>Directive</strong> <strong>065</strong> notification templates<br />

must be used.<br />

2) Have all parties been notified in accordance with <strong>Directive</strong> <strong>065</strong>?<br />

Select YES if all parties were contacted (see Section 7.3.1.3).<br />

Select NO if this requirement has not been met but you are still choosing to file a spacing<br />

application. You must include a “Reason <strong>for</strong> Incomplete Notification” attachment with<br />

your application.<br />

3) What was the mailing date of the last notification letter sent?<br />

Enter the date the last notification letter was sent. A minimum 15-business-day response<br />

period from the date the notification letter is mailed is required be<strong>for</strong>e an application can<br />

be registered with the ERCB.<br />
