<strong>Gas</strong> Conservation Act, <strong>Oil</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Gas</strong> Conservation Regulations, this directive, <strong>and</strong> conditions<br />

of approval. These are the requirements that you have a legal obligation to meet <strong>and</strong> against<br />

which the ERCB may take en<strong>for</strong>cement action in cases of noncompliance.<br />

You must not assume that an approval has or will be granted just because an application has<br />

been submitted.<br />

If an unauthorized activity occurs or if conditions of approval are not met, en<strong>for</strong>cement action<br />

will be taken in accordance with <strong>Directive</strong> 019. Immediate corrective action, such as the shutin<br />

of well operations, is required. See specific sections of <strong>Directive</strong> <strong>065</strong> <strong>for</strong> details of<br />

compliance requirements <strong>and</strong> en<strong>for</strong>cement action.<br />

The en<strong>for</strong>cement process is explained in <strong>Directive</strong> 019, <strong>and</strong> a list of risk-assessed<br />

noncompliance events <strong>and</strong> associated compliance categories are listed on the ERCB Web site<br />

www.ercb.ca under ERCB Home : Industry Zone : Compliance <strong>and</strong> En<strong>for</strong>cement : Risk<br />

Assessed Noncompliance.<br />

Voluntary Self-Disclosure<br />

Licensees are encouraged to actively monitor compliance using tools such as surveillance <strong>and</strong><br />

audits. Rules <strong>for</strong> voluntary self-disclosure <strong>and</strong> a list of events that are not considered selfdisclosure<br />
