Good Good morning <strong>and</strong> welcome to<br />

the Inaugural Session <strong>of</strong> the 26 th Centre <strong>of</strong><br />

Advanced Faculty Training on “<strong>Diseases</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

management <strong>of</strong> crops <strong>under</strong> protected<br />

cultivation”.<br />

Hon’ble Chief guest Dr. J.P. P<strong>and</strong>ey,<br />

Registrar; Dr. J.P. Singh, Director Experiment<br />

Station <strong>and</strong> Dr. S.C. Saxena, honorary<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essor, Dr. R.P. Singh, Course Coordinator<br />

<strong>of</strong> this training, Deans <strong>and</strong> Directors, Head <strong>of</strong><br />

Departments, Senior faculty members,<br />

Colleagues, Staff members, the trainees from<br />

different universities, Students, Press & Media,<br />

Ladies & Gentle men.<br />

At the outset, on behalf <strong>of</strong> faculty <strong>of</strong><br />

Plant Pathology <strong>and</strong> on my own behalf <strong>and</strong><br />

Dean, College <strong>of</strong> Agriculture, it is a pleasure in<br />

welcoming honorable Vice-Chancellor, who is<br />

known for his immense energy, strong integrity<br />

<strong>and</strong> commitment. Since, you have consented<br />

to grace this occasion despite <strong>of</strong> your very<br />

hectic schedule <strong>of</strong> work, we all are very<br />

grateful to you, Sir.<br />

It is a pleasure in welcoming Dr. J.P.<br />

Singh, the Director <strong>of</strong> Research who has been<br />

very successfully coordinating <strong>and</strong> leading a<br />

very diverse research programme in the<br />

university. We all, members <strong>of</strong> Plant Pathology<br />

faculty welcome you.<br />

I would also like to welcome Dr. S.C.<br />

Saxena, the senior most person in the College<br />

<strong>and</strong> a honorary pr<strong>of</strong>essor in the Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Plant Pathology. Dr. Saxena is the First<br />

Generation Staff in the Department as well as<br />

the College <strong>and</strong> is an appropriate interface to<br />

the younger generations coming to the<br />

Department.<br />

I would also like to welcome my<br />

colleague Dr. R.P. Singh, the Course<br />

Coordinator <strong>of</strong> this CAFT training.<br />

I welcome all the Deans <strong>and</strong> Directors<br />

who are present here in the hall. They have<br />

spared their valuable time to grace this<br />

occasion.<br />

The Heads <strong>and</strong> faculty members <strong>of</strong><br />

various departments have also responded to<br />

our request <strong>and</strong> are present in the hall. I<br />

welcome all <strong>of</strong> you to the function.<br />

The participants <strong>of</strong> the training from<br />

different universities have traveled a long<br />

distance to reach Pantnagar. At Pantnagar<br />

you may miss the comfort <strong>and</strong> attractions <strong>of</strong><br />

big cities but the warmth <strong>of</strong> academic that<br />

exists at this place <strong>and</strong> a very exhaustive work<br />

that awaits you, should keep you engrossed<br />

<strong>and</strong> compensate for any logistic inadequacies.<br />

I welcome you all <strong>and</strong> assure you a<br />

comfortable stay within our means.<br />
