able (tenesmus), <strong>and</strong> if the discharge be windy, <strong>and</strong><br />

watery, <strong>and</strong> bloody. Twelve methods.<br />

xxxiii. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> for the perilous disease in which<br />

a man casteth from him <strong>and</strong> speweth, as they sa}^, his<br />

excrement through the mouth ;<br />

<strong>and</strong> for wounds <strong>of</strong> the<br />

inwards, <strong>and</strong> sore <strong>of</strong> the small guts, <strong>and</strong> for laceration<br />

<strong>of</strong> the inwards, <strong>and</strong> for inward spasm ; <strong>and</strong> for the<br />

wamb which digests late, <strong>and</strong> the man who is not<br />

affected by the leechdoms ; there cometh on him<br />

dropsy, pain in liver, sore <strong>of</strong> spleen, retention <strong>of</strong> urine,<br />

inflation <strong>of</strong> belly, pain in loins, s<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> stones wax<br />
